Plastic products are a huge part of our daily routines but the resulting waste presents a major issue, and not just for the environment. Plastic energy chains however, are not comparable with plastic packaging or other disposable plastic products.
But what happens when a plastic energy chain reaches its maximum service life?
At the end of their service life, energy chains are normally disposed of with other plastic waste. True recycling rarely occurs, since so-called grinding (processing waste into usable granulate) is very costly.
We at igus® accept that responsibility and want to contribute to reducing plastic waste and improving recycling with the "igus® Chainge Recycling Program":
HAVE YOUR ENERGY CHAINS PROCESSED AS PART OF THE igus® RECYCLING PROGRAM – NO MATTER WHICH MANUFACTURER THEY CAME FROM.
The EU is also working on new rules governing the use of recycled plastic, aiming at a 25% recycling rate for plastic processing by 2025.

We accept any energy chain. We will weigh, separate and clean the material so that it can be recycled and re-integrated into the production process. You will receive an igus® voucher based on the net weight.
We are the largest manufacturer of plastic energy chains in the world and have been adding re-granulated material from in-house production to suitable products for years.
